I met Baxter many years ago and found him to be a very pleasant, generous and honest man. He was making his living as an entertainer specializing in humorous cowboy poetry. it was an honor and a pleasure to work with him. This Poster was originally drawn completely by hand from the portrait of Baxter to the handlettering.
The pointillist style of drawing has always been a favorite of mine as it affords me a great deal of control. During the early part of my career, I was a serious control freak and struggled to let things go as far as my art was concerned. Now I have broken free of that boundary and love to splash around with my watercolours and pen and inks, but now and then, I like to step back into the controlling days, just for fun.
